      Hello everyone.
I was wondering what people who have owned Geo Metros think about their reliability. Especially if you have technical knowledge about them. I wanted to buy one for $1000 w/ 170k miles on it. My mom is horrified and thinks that they are bad cars. I just want to be able to get around w/o spending a lot on gas (I own a 2000 Cherokee w/ 160+k) 15-18mpg so… yeah.

Well for a cheap car I was always surprised at how well they ran. I have owned a Metro and Tracker at one point and they were not the best of cars when it came to comfort or and luxuries, but they were solid. My mother has a 1991 Geo Storm and that blasted thing just won’t die, I had to drive 2 hours to stick a timing belt in it last month and was shocked to find it was the original belt. Often the bodies fall apart before the drive train does. And my Metro was a crap car, but got amazing gas mileage and never failed to start. I have been in the business about 20 years now and have to say a Geo is a good car as far as the drive train goes, you need to baby the body.
