gearbox slips out of gear while driving

g’day i just put in a used celica 5 speed in to my escort and a couple times while driving it has slipped out of gear its done it in second and i think 4 gear aswell what is it most likely

no your not missing any thing before i had a noisy 4 speed (fucked bearings)and i now have a 5 speed with overdrive gear and it came with adapted bellhousing i dont see any problem with it people put the ford nine inch in to holdens if its a better design or can take more abuse its a good idea to make it fit

A manual transmission that jumps out of gear means there’s an internal problem in the transmission. That could be due to excessive play in the mainshaft, worn shift forks, worn synchronizer hub/sleeve assembly, etc; or even a combination of all of that.

Installing used units are often a roll of the dice unfortunately.
