Hi, this happened literally the same day i joined the forum lol:

Ok i installed my exedy stage 2 about 700 miles ago, felt fine, really good actually. Now today, im just driving along normally, i notice when i change gear there is like a wurring/ buzzing sound, got worse and worse. when i got home i let the car idle as i listened for noises, and there is a very noticeable rattle:

To me it sounds like a flywheel bolt has come loose, or maybe even a pressure plate bolt, but that would baffle the fuk out of me as i torque all bolts to oem spec and in the star pattern. i even used loctite red and i thoroughly cleaned the bolts before i installed them.

NOW- this very well may be the reason its fuked if it isn’t the bolts loose— i recently changed the fluid when i did the clutch install with honda mtf. i over torqued the drain bolt and cracked the housing slightly and threaded the hole. so i cleaned as much metal out that i could and used this stuff called thread repair, a loctite product, to repair the thread, and a product called quick steel to repair the crack. It seemed to have worked fine, didnt leak at ALL.

Im thinking maybe the alloy has gone through the box and completely fuked it.

Any input would be much appreciated, im pretty down about this, so many problems with car lately.

ps- Also i haven’t launched it, flat shifted, or even raced anyone since i’ve done new clutch, only a few pulls, nothing abusive. No crunches or miss shifts ect.

I will drop the transmission fluid today and see if there is any metal in it.

            Sorry skipped my mind.

            Its a 2000 integra type r (dc2) with a k swap, so its a 2003 engine/gearbox, out of a jdm 2003 inetgra type r (dc5). Transmission is a y2m3 with a 5.1 final drive in it.

Any weird noises in 3rd gear or does it pop out of gear?

There is an issue with that transmissions 3rd gear syncro and the 3-4 shift sleeve bearings.

no not really, it’s known this (y2m3) transmission has 2nd gear synchro problems and Second and fourth gear are susceptible to braking with aftermarket clutch and power increase.

Im more wanting to know if anyone has experienced this sound before, and what the problem was. Basically just so i have a heads up on what im looking at.

At the moment it’s looking like a full transmission rebuild. $2500 down the drain, oh well, i was eventually going to have it overhauled, just not this soon lol. Not too mention all the extra damage there will be now.

Anyway before i jump to conclusions, i will drain the fluid and see what it looks like.

                Thanks for the reply Raistain77

                  No problem Gammin

I have rebuilt C59 and C60 Toyotas and numerous Chevy and Ford transmissions, but never a Honda trans. So there is not much personal experience that I can help you with.

It sounds to me like the flywheel bolts have come loose.

^this was my suspision also, but i see it as nearly imposible for them to come loose considering i used loctite red and torqued them to oem spec. But i will find out soon enough as i will have to drop the box.

I just drained the oil, looks like silver paint. ie- gearbox is ruined lol:

                      Yikes
