      The negative battery cable broke on my 1995 cavalier so I put another one on now it does start but the brake and antilock brake and seat belt light comes on when I go in reverse as I drive down the road the lights goes away it’s acting finning snice I put new negative cable on why does it do this

        Try pulling any stored codes.

          I think I fixed it the old cable had a ground going to the engine and one attached to the bottom where the battery goes when I put the new cable in I didn’t install the other ground I had to splice wire from the auxiliary cable from the new cable to a bolt on the body now it works good all the check lights don’t come on like it did before I just didn’t know you needed that other ground I thought that one cable was all the ground you needed then I looked at my other car it’s a 2002 cavalier it had the same set up so now I know how to fix it if it happens to that car

              Good find! Yes, you do need a ground connection at both the engine and the body of the vehicle. All electrical circuits flow through this cable at some point which explains why you had difficulty after the installation.
