I have a ’99 Pontiac Grand Prix SE that’s a bit of a junker, but I’m just trying to keep it going until I’m finished with school. One thing I noticed the other day was that if I put my foot behind my gas pedal and pull forward, it moves about 3/4″ to 1″ forward. It doesn’t wobble, the mount is fine. My initial thought was the cable might have slack in it, but I can’t figure out how to tighten it (I’m a bit of a self-repair noob, but I’m learning/teaching myself). I’m also not sure if this is just how the pedal is. I’m constantly playing around with it, but anyone who knows how to adjust the cable for a Pontiac, any help is much appreciated.

Do not try to adjust the cable. This movement is normal. Stop playing with it. Lol

IT might be how the pedal is. In the event of an accident, it may engineered a certain way so it becomes loose, for safety, rather than binding up and going out of control. I don’t remember ever noticing and adjustement of sorts on those types, but I do know on some GM cars that the pedal moves in a way so the cable can be replaced with undoing a bunch of things but its not native to the way you would normally use it. Sorta like the pulling up of a clutch pedal on a Ford with a self adjusting toothed quadrant.
