      Hi all.

I am going to replace my fuel filter, and was told to run some fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system. I have run some Lucas upper cylinder lube through it previously, and Sea Foamed it last year. I got an improvement in mileage with the Lucas, and couldn’t notice any difference after the Sea Foam. You run the Sea Foam through the induction system, but whats a good one to clean the injectors?

I don’t have the $ or the tool to do the one you hook to the fuel rail, so that’s a no-go. I am looking for everyone’s input on the best in-tank product to use. Everyone is saying the Chevron Techron is best. Are there any others? Berryman B-12, Redline, Gumout, BK440-something (forget what it’s called) etc.? I’ve heard the “Snake Oil” discussions before, but the Lucas product really worked!

Who’s used what and how has it worked (or not)?

      Thanks for the input!

I’ve used Chevron Techron with very good results.

Most gasoline has Techron in it already. When you add more to the tank it’s more concentrated and will do a better job of cleaning. Other than that I have used STP fuel injector cleaner for a maintenance cleaning with some improvement in performance. Most of that stuff is 90% kerosene anyway.

Thanks guys. I got some Techron concentrate. It was buy one get one free at Oreillys. We’ll see how it works!

            Thanks again.

Pontiac Grand Prix with a miss

I went to Walmart and bought the cheapest bottle of injector cleaner they had on the shelf. After a couple of days of driving the problem was gone. This is the only time I experienced an actual result from this sort of product.

Just wanted to give an update.

I put in the Techron in both my cars (the Ford and the Subaru), and noticed a smoother idle in both. The Ford naturally had a slight choppy idle, but it’s smoothed out. I guess it’s working! No noticeable gain in power or fuel economy though.
