Hi i have a 1999 1.3l skoda felicia petrol. Recently i stopped with no fuel due fo a fault in either the gauge or sending unit. The gauge was stuck in just above quarter tank, then i refilled with petrol to the max and now its stuck on full gauge no matter how many days of using the car. Now i already removed the sending unit. It has 3 wires. Yellow is ground and its showing good continuity, brown is to the gauge and it shows 3.15volts and a blue wire which shows 7.9 volts. I then bench tested the sender and the resistance is 420 ohms when tank is full and 430 ohms when tank is empty. Also when i put the float in petrol to test it. When i lower the float the gauge rises and when i put the float higher the gauge lowers. Am i right in thinking this sender is shot as it should be vice versa right ?

Im thinking you should be getting a lot more of a change. in the ohms then your getting.. 10 ohms is bot that much… what Im thinking is there is corrotion on the wiprer of the verible resistor and its probly warn out …. I dont know if you can buy just the wiprer arm ssystem or your going to have to buy the whole assambly…. …
when the wipers contact go bad they will suddely jump in ohm’s value they can go up or down either way when the coating goes bad
I would diffrntly start there its a ver comman problem after like 120+k miles

Thanks for the reply. Yeah its a very odd resistance. Yeah the coil of the sender is rusty and the float is a bit punctured also

If the ohms stay between 420 -430 the sender is having a problem.
