I drive a 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8L. I had both front bearings replaced and front end alignment done three days ago and just replaced rotors on the vehicle today. But since today when I replaced the rotors, I get a clunk on the right front side when I go over bumps at any speed. I have replaced struts 4 months ago so I ruled that out. Could it be the caliper? Tie-rod ends are intact, no stabilizer bar on this model. I was also going to check the lug studs and maybe check for looseness, but I double-checked them. Tire pressure is at 34psi. Thanks!

If you’re 100% certain the sound didn’t start until you had your rotors replaced I would inspect your calipers and brake pads for looseness. Chances are if a shop did the job they didn’t (shouldn’t) have put your old pads on fresh rotors. The rotor is unlikely to bang around because its firm with the lug nuts. Check to make sure the metal shims are installed on the pads if they had any to begin with. If the newer pads didn’t have them, those can rattle. Also, make sure the bolts that secure the caliper to the hub are tight. Lastly, make sure the the bolts that secure the outer caliper to the inner caliper are secure as well.

Let us know how it goes.

The rotors would not cause a clunk sound. its suspension
related. I would look for suspension looseness, ball joints,
I hate to say it don’t rule out a bad strut. heres a video to help.
I also gave you the the actual Nissan suspension trouble shooting.
You would think if the caliper or bracket was loose you would get
vibration or pulsation not a clunk.

, if the sound started after the rotors were replaced, I would have to agree with the other guys, something was left out. Check brake pads for looseness and the caliper for missing or loose bolts. If you had a recent alignment done the suspension parts should be in good shape (at least I always check them during a pre alignment inspection). Does the sound go away when you apply the brakes?

Yep check the brake pads and see if all the shims are there, also use the video College man posted to check and see if it’s a brake pad rattle.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I did go back and checked them and it was a loose caliper bracket. It only clucked when I went over potholes, cracks, dips, etc; not while braking. Since then, It has driven without any noises in the front end.

Thanks for the update. I always recommend torquing down all fasteners on a vehicle to prevent the above from happening.
