My favorite cars are either the 85-86 Mustang GT, or a late 80’s/early 90’s notchback. I had an ’82 GT, which was nice because I never saw another one in the years I owned it, and someone had already converted it to a T-5 vs. the factory four speed, but it had been owned by several kids (including me at the time), and had been run pretty ragged. But man, it was a blast to drive. The speedometer didn’t work, so everytime i got pulled over and the cop said, ‘Do you know how fast you were going?’ I always answered honestly, ‘No idea sir.’

I must say the fox bodys don’t really appeal to me, they just dont look like what I think the mustang should. I have no problem admitting they can fly when they need to though!

I would have said the same thing but they have been growing on me. The mustangs i like are a 1969 fb or a 2011 5.0

I do enjoy a Fox body Mustang but man the interiors are so bad on them it almost ruins the car for me.

                I like some fox bodys.

My buddy had a 88 that was sweet, had all kinds of mods and money in that thing, the super charger alone on his was more then what i see some nice ones going for. lol

Aye, the interiors are crap, but when I was 9 years old in 1988, I was walking home from school, and I saw my first Mustang GT of that era, and I was immediately in love. I have since moved on to the LX’s since they don’t have 500 lbs of useless plastic on them, and are a bit more sleeperish. Can’t help but still love my first favorite hotrod to this day. And the mods possible are endless for relatively cheap, altho not as cheap as anything powered by a SBC.

this is what I’m talking about. I wish it had been run. A double pumper holley with a (stroked/bored 351?) running 9.5’s. If you saw that car on the street and didn’t notice the full cage, you would have no idea 🙂 Not sure how I’m f’ing up the link, but it leads to Eric’s last ride in the 429 Galaxie, and you can find the 9.5 mustang from there. Also, Eric put in the desription of the Galaxie video that it was him playing the 12 string. I smell a concert.

I agree for the most part the 79-93 foxbody is what put ford back on the map as far as high performance goes. That being said I like the 89-93 by that time they were all mass air flow equipped and fuel injected. I like fuel injection though.

I LOVE the Foxbodies!! There my all time favorite vehicle. I have had 3 so far and helped a few people build theres up too.

So far i have had an 82 Notch, 90 GT Convertible and a 93 LX Convertible. My favortie body style is the 4 eyed hatchback mustangs that ran from 79 to 86. 4 eyed pride baby!!!

For my next one, my wife wants me to buy a SN95 which are ok. Id only settle for a 94 or 95 seeing 95 was the last year of the 302.

I wouldnt mind getting ahold of a Mustang SVO with the 4 cylinder Turbo but i have never seen any at all around where i live.

Hopefully after Christmas, ill be wrenching on another V-)

I am not sure what years have them, But I believe they have them in 93′ But If anything I would go with the SVT mustang.

Prior to retiring the “Fox body” platform Ford had one more great surprise for enthusiasts which was the 1993 SVT Cobra Mustang. This car had a host of features not found in a typical Mustang GT including GT40 heads, cast aluminum cobra intake system, 65mm throttle body, 24lb fuel injectors, upgraded EEC computer, 1.7 ratio roller rockers, and a special camshaft which brought [color=#006400″>spoiler, SVO tail lamps, and a special Mustang emblem embossed into the grill.

Also I thought I would mention, They may be quite tough to find! There was only 5,100 of them made.

The reason I feel out of love with the Fox body in ’93 was they switched from a forged piston to a hypereutectic piston, which I’ve heard mixed opinions on. I’ll take forged anyday. This continued on into the 94-95 mustangs that were the last of the 5.0 era (until recently, I haven’t done much research on the resurgence of the new 5.0) I liked the first few years of the new body style, but I’m not a super fan of the newest mustang body, that is a throwback to the late 60’s fastbacks. I feel the same way about the new Challengers. I loved the old school Challengers, but I am not a huge fan of the current edition. I guess I’m just getting old.

not much of a mustang fan,but i wish i would have never sold the 2 i had…both were 1979 5.0,,,,one was i perfect shape, i mean perfect…it had blown headgaskets and i bought it in 1989 for $600…i know that in tennesse where i live, these things are very rare, and if they do show up=hacked, hacked, hacked…..they do make great racecars though…with a chevy engine that is…

I love the fox bodies. I’m going to be handing down my DC2 to my younger sister soon and wanted a 93 5.0 but unfortunately the boss aka my mom said no they’re too old for a college student who messes with cars as a hobby(she’s giving me half the cash so she has say about what I get).

Will be getting a newer Stang but I would seriously love a fox body.

I’ve found that the older guys tend to like the foxbodies a bit more than the younger generation. For me, these are THE mustangs. I had a 1986 for my first car. I was actually looking for another one, when I came across a 97 V8 T-bird with 68,000 miles. I thought it was a steal, after tearing into it though…. maybe not. Should have kept looking for a mustang.

But I agree that the interiors could have been a whole lot better. I guess you could go Chip Foose on one’s interior, and really make a fantastic car. You know some leather here, some fiberglass there, different seat and dash designs. It would be a-lot of work, but you would have the coolest mustang on the block.
