I have a 80Amp Arc/Stick DC shot spark start arc welder it weld pretty good for me being a green horn. I have a question on rods. I tried the hobart rods I haven’t arc weldin in like 9 yrs so i could rate them. I got hobart rods from tractor supply 1/16 6013 and 6013 3/32. I robs was really long lol. I didn’t link the 1/16 next time I’am going with 5/64 or 5/32 it seem like the 1/16 just was hard to use.Now the 3/32 I liked first or second strike it hit and it started flowing nice they was just where really long but I learned when they where shorter I could turn my heat down. Should I use 6013 rods? Also I heard Lincoln rods where better, with me not welding src welding in such a long time I can’t say hobart vs Lincoln. It’s gonna take some one that welds or has some EXP and can say yeah this maker is better.
Now I did do this I cut out my leaking flex pipe it welding it in with my arc weld using 3/32 rods turned my heat to the lowest took my time. Yeah I had to start the van and check for leaks yeah there was two small ones not bad for a green horn I fix it. and saved 100 bucks and enjoyed and learned.
