We have a 2007 Ford Focus that seems to run rough than normal during idle and acceleration. Upon acceleration it doesn’t feel sluggish, but seems like it is pushing harder and very rough. Oil is maintained normally, oil is up to level, changed out plugs with platinums and still getting same driveability. The idle is pretty rough too.

It is hard to see where this can be coming from. The car has reached 130K miles. Where can I start looking to figure out the cause?

Any information offered is much appreciated!!!

            Bellis….

I think I will use some B12 Berryman’s after going through and cleaning the throttle body, filters and checking leaks. I would be surprised if there was a vacuum leak.

There is no check engine light on. I will go through the above steps and this should help.

            Thanks

I supposed I can check the fuel pressure. I will do that after I go thru the filters and freshen those up. I think it is time the car got those replaced after 130 000 miles.

The plugs have but the boots have not been. I will also replace the boots to ensure they are not cracked.

try doing a power balance test. You could also look
                      for vacuum leaks.

I had a 2000 focus that was running rough and idling like it was missing. Ended up being a motor mount bolt had cracked somehow. Probably pretty rare cause of rough idle but something to keep in mind. I spent a good deal of time chasing down the normal rough idle things until I found the broken bolt.

I would check your cats, sounds like you may have a restriction.

I looked at the mount and it appears cracked surrounding the center. Kind of what you would expect to see of a cracked rubber boot. Looks hard, cracked and worn.

I am going to say that there is enough play in the mount after being worn, it is most likely the problem. So I will go hunt down a replacement.

Let ya all know how it goes once I jam another one on.

                                    Have fun, guys…
