Car is a 1999 Subaru Outback with a 2.5L
My girlfriend has left the house to drive semis for a period of time, and with her permission i’ve started trying to perform necessary maintenance work on the car, mostly learning this stuff recently as well.
The other day i went to flush the radiator and replace the fluid, i just flushed the rad, and did not bother draining the block since the coolant was still a vibrant green. I did make the rookie mistake of driving without fully burping the upper hose and while driving to work, the hose loosened and spat a bit of coolant. Lesson learned. So i thoroughly burped the hose, retopped up the rad, and have not had a cooling issue since. however now i’m leaking transmission fluid either from the cooler or lines leading to the cooler, and only discovered so when i came out in the morning to drive it to work. i dread the thought that the transmission might have gone dry.
is this a matter of simply replacing some hoses? am i totally boned? opinions?
