I bought a new, AC Delco floor jack and picked it up mid January… and it already died!

      This is the floor jack:

In other words, I have only lifted about half of a 1 ton car on a 2.5 ton jack!

I have probably only lifted 4 or 5 times with it and NOTHING was larger than a Mazda 3.

Anyway, toward the end oil kept coming out of the seal for the part that gets pumped. If you pump it, it goes up/down.

Are the seals for sure shot on this thing?

Quite possible. It should be under warranty if you got it in January. So I’d just return it for replacement.

Thanks… Got it replaced by O’Reilly no problem.

I’d stay away from those trolley jacks, you can get a good full size for around $100 bucks where i live, this is my floor jack i did pay $250 but it is on the higher end. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4hkI3Wk1MU ) but when ever and if ever this jack fails, i plan on getting this one ( http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoTools/LiftingEquipment/PRD~0091047P/MotoMaster+3-Ton+Heavy+Duty+Garage+Jack.jsp?locale=en ) it’s not a low pro but it seems to be of a good quality.

I’m not surprised, bunch of people have problems with the Craftsman jacks too – even the so called ‘professional’ ones. All this stuff is made in China, how much quality do you expect for $60 when a real ‘shop duty’ model would be 10x that.

At least it didn’t let loose when you were under the vehicle.

I paid $70 for a harbor freight 3 ton jack and I haven’t had any issues with it. Definitely check them out next time you’re looking for a jack.

Those little jacks are junk in my opinion, went through three in the last 10 years. I bought one of those 2 1/2 ton racing jacks from Pep Boys and have not had a problem yet, love it. Plus it’s nice having the extra leverage with the long handle.

I’ve heard that the lower-end Chinese jack can be a real hit or miss.

I own two jacks myself – a Hein-Werner HW93642 and a AFF 200t. The Hein Werner is an excellent jack – it is smooth, solid and easily controllable. Its only downside is the high clearance. On the other hand, the AFF 200t works no better than the $100 low-profile jack that you can buy at Costco; it was truly a waste of money.
