I’m looking to purchase my first flaring kit. I have to replace some brake lines on my 98 Accord. Any suggestions on a decent set?

      Thanks Joe

Unfortunately, It seems the more you spend the better you get in a flaring tool.

I agree with Bill, if you want a good flare set, they are expensive. The cheap ones in the parts stores are often only single flare lines (brake lines are double flared). A cheap double flare set will often ruin a line before it flares it correctly.

The problem with these flare sets is that the lines love to shift in the clamp while you are flaring the line. If it shifts (even a tiny bit) it will ruin the double flare. The other bad thing about those kits is it takes practice to get good using the thing.

          A good one like this

          costs about $600.00

What I often do is measure out what I need to replace the whole line and buy already flared and fitted lines in pre-made lengths and replace the whole line.

I would look at OTC tools. Their website is otctools.com

The cheapest prices for their tools are on amazon. I usually look for what i want at their website and copy and paste the part number.

            Good Luck
