Fixing door stoppers

      1999 Civic DX 2 door

      Is their any tricks to fixing noisy door stoppers?

        Did you try oiling them up real good?

          Yes but I wouldn’t be able to describe it so well, you might first check to see if the screws that hold the door latch (in the door itself) in place are loose or not, they sometimes work loose causing the problem you describe. The reason it’s hard to explain is because it’s more of a ‘feel’ kind of thing that is very difficult to describe here but you loosen the 2 screws that hold the striker to the door pillar and close the door while holding the door handle open so that you can ‘position’ the striker in a better location. It takes some practice but an easier way may be to line up the marks on the striker with the marks on the door pillar. I normally use an impact driver on those screws BTW.

            Eric, I think I understand what you mean. Would kind of make sense if the previous owner let the doors swing open real hard. The pull would move the stoppers if the bolts where not real tight. Will try that out. Thanks.
