      🙂 Howdy!
I’m going to be doing my first oil change on my new riding lawnmower and the manual says to use 30 weight oil with API service classification SG-SL. All I have on hand is 10w30 full synthetic. Will that be good to use? OR should I go all the way downtown to get the 30 weight it calls for. What will happen if I use that synthetic instead? Is it API service classification SG-SL?
      .

Not sure about Synthetic but 10w30 and 5w30 will work just fine. Ive been putting 5w30 oil in my mowers for years never hurt a thing

EDIT: i should also ad the oil is oil API oil is the only thing that matters classification dont matter if 10w30 is all you have use it. But since i dont own a riding mover id really use the 30w it calls for. as i dont know if riding mores and push mowers have he same kind of engines or whatnot.

If the recommended oil is straight 30 weight. Then thats what it gets.

My riding lawn mowers with Briggs and Stratton motor has been getting 5w30 synthetic for a few years now just because my van takes 5w30 and I can get the mobile 1 by the case at my wholesale club. I switched after seeing this link below from B&S saying you can use 5w30 or 10w30 synthetic. I also found that whatever oil filter fits my 2000 Sienna also fits my riding lawn mower for much cheaper than a B&S filter. Keeps things simple. No issues at all.
