I recently adjusted the valves on my Honda Ridgeline and was very happy with how it improved the smoothness of the engine. I used an el-cheapo tappet feeler gauge that I got at the local Autozone. Getting to the exhaust tappets on the rear valves was a pain and I ended up bending the gauge at a 90 degree angle and just about 1/2″ to put under the tappet.
Now I want to adjust my wife’s Odyssey valves which should be easier to get to, but was wondering what would work better for these rear tappets. ETCG’s video on adjusting the J-Series valves he states he likes longer gauges. I see sets that are both longer and not as wide as the garden variety you get at the auto parts store.
So, what do others think would be the best gauges for this engine? The hardest thing for me was getting the gauge under the tappet for cylinders 2 and 3.
Thanks
