Hi. I’ve exhausted google searches on this issue and hope someone can help me. I failed my emissions test and not ready to give up my car. Here’s my reading (AZ).
HC – 0.32 out of 1.00 PASS
CO – 4.20 out of 12.00 PASS
NOX – 2.86 out of 2.50 FAILEGR valve, MAP and IAC sensor bench tested within range. Used a shop vac + soapy water and diagnosed many exhaust leaks. My only O2 sensor grounds to the manifold and the manifold to block has a leak. After realizing a past mechanic might probably broke the stud (pic-bottom right), I applied 2 coats of sealant and also to the entirety of my leaks. I had a code of 24 before this that = air intake sensor circuit. EFI fuse pulled and ECU reset.
The car is much smoother and quieter after this patch, but this will be my second time going in for emissions and I don’t want fail again because of high NO. So here’s my question. Do I need a new cat or is that a waste of money right now? Have till the end of Feb for my free second emissions check.
