Its 10 above out and when I turn my blower fan on it makes this extremely loud noise. This is the first time its ever happened and it does it all the time now. I can feel the fan vibrating when feeling the bottom of the passenger side where it sits. Its a 2003 grand am. I don’t think this car has a cabin filter so I’m not thinking there could be any debris in there.

Would replacing the fan be the best fix or could it be something else?

      Thank you

Best to pull the motor and fan assembly… Sometimes things get stuck in there (you would be surprised what people find in there… nests, snakeskins, broken eggs, wrappers, paper, etc…) or the fan itself may get broken or the tang which holds the fan on may waller out…….. When you remove the assembly, re-connect the electrical plug and carefully hold it by the motor and start the fan… The problem should present itself…. It may be the bearings worn out or something getting in the way of the fan…

I had this issue in my old 95 eclipse. Turns out a mouse got in there and when I turned the blower on it was loud and vibrated badly. The vertical blades of the fan drum sliced the mouse up pretty good as well. Take my advice, check it before it stinks.

I agree…gotta pull the motor and look. If its all clear then id bench test it off of the battery and listen. Maybe internal in the motor or external in the fan.

Thought I’d share with the group what I found in the fan. I found 2 pine cones.I have no idea how those got in there.

Check the screens at the air intakes. You probably had a chipmunk that chewed through the screens and stashed the pine cones in there.
