Greetings from a nice and warm Sweden, finally! 🙂

This is a question i have been meaning to ask a long time, since my friends who claim to know these things are dead sure they are correct.
So now i’m asking you: IS it worth it to replace the last part of the exhaust on my Accord 1996 with a stainless part instead of the regular steel?

I was in luck two years ago and found an almost new part on a junkyard on the other side of Sweden but even with the price of the transport it still was a lot cheaper than to buy the part in a store and now i’m in the same predicament again: i was in on the yearly inspection and my exhaust, or at least the part in the rear did not get the okay-stamp, which leads me to this question.

On a vehicle of that age I don’t think it would be worth it, most times you could put on almost 3 steel exhausts for one stainless exhaust.

I just did a video on this, sort of.

Well, that depends on your point of view…have i the money to buy a newer car now or even in the foreseeable future? No.
Does my car work okay, despite it’s age, and do i plan to keep it at least a couple of years more? Yes.

So my question is really this: do you get any damaging sideeffects when you put a stainless exhaust with a regular steel exhaust, already on the car and in no need of replacing?

The problem with mixing stainless with steel you will get
electrolysis of two dissimilar metals. if your going to go from
the cat back. Then you should be ok. Its when you mix and
match. one will react with the other.

Exactly, its from the catalyst and back…so that should be okay then?
              Good to know!

if the expense is not much more.
                why not.
