when ever I use my Ac I don’t see any moisture come out of the drain. I was thinking it could be clogged so I ran some compressed air in the drain tube and no water or anything come out of there. I haven’t been noticing the carpet wet or anything. just concerned on where the condensation from the evaporator is going don’t want water or condensation from the evaporator core to be sitting in there.

They will condense gallons one day and none the next. It just depends on weather conditions.

I noticed the ’78 Firebird I used to drive wasn’t dropping a water one summer. On the Firebird the evaporator was located in a box on the firewall in the engine compartment. Rather than raising the car I just squeezed under and by the time I was where I could probe the drain I was close to being pinned. Well, it was full of stinky water and I got soaked.

its been over 100F degrees here in Las Vegas. so then its possible water wont come out of the Evaporator drain tube? cooling is perfect just been wondering why I haven’t been seeing water coming from the drain tube.

plus there’s a lot of insulation on the cars carpet so its hard to tell if the carpet or floor could be wet. And also I don’t want water to sit there and not know it if is leaking on the carpet. yet another concern

              Las Vegas = zero humidity.

guess that’s why I have been noticing no water coming from there but doesn’t condensation build up inside the evaporator?

no. it is similar to an ice cold beer that you take right out the freezer and set it on the table on a nice humid day; the ambient moisture will collect on the outside of the very cold evaporator and drain down ye’ old drain tube. Here in Michigan on a hot day I get a nice puddle of water under the car because of the high humidity.

I worked at a factory in Nebraska where we’d get high humidity some days in the summer. I was in the office and they had a A/C unit stuck in the wall separating the office from the shop space. There was no sewer nearby so the drain was piped down to a five gallon bucket which we were supposed to dump when it got full.

The bucket would be dry for weeks then one morning we’d come in and the bucket would be overflowing.

Check that the drain line is not plugged.

I did check to see if it was not plugged and its not. no water or anything came out I even ran some compressed air down there.

This is exactly what I was going to say. The moisture comes from the humidity in the air. The less humidity, the less moisture will condense on the evaporator. More info here.

If u wanna feel satisfied that your drain is clear, a good test that i do is to remove the vents for the center vents and squirt some water down the vent and u should see if there is any coming out the bottom, just dont over do it. if it does then u know you dont have anything to worry about.
