EVAP Monitor reset

:unsure: I reset a DTC on my computer, with an Actron scanner, for an 08′ Honda Pilot, which wiped out all readiness codes. After driving for a week on the highway, all of them showed “complete” except the EVAP Monitor. What is the procedure to reset this monitor on a Honda Pilot? No current or pending codes present. :dry:

If there is a fault in the EVAP system it may never be ready. If the system is ok there is a generic procedure to run the monitor. The car has to sit idle for at least 8 hours and have no less or more than a half a tank of fuel. Start the engine and run for one minute. Switch the engine off and restart. Drive the car for at least ten minutes at highway speeds and then no less than ten minutes in stop and go traffic.

If the monitor does not run then you will need to complete the manufactures procedure.

There is a VERY specific set of circumstances to get that monitor to run. It can be forced to run, but only with a Honda scanner. As pointed out, if you have a fault with the EVAP system the monitor may never run and it may set a code at some point.

You might consider taking it to your Honda dealer to have them run the monitor.
