hey Eric i was kinda wondering about the idea of car battery’s and how dangerous they are . like shorting replacing acid , ect…ect… for a video . if you have all ready done this then im very sorry to have wasted you’re time. :stick:

don’t think it would be a waste of time, i think it would be very informative and if eric doesn’t have videos out about this it could be easy for him too make one since all cars have batteries… well all modern cars anyhow.

not only do you have the issue with Acid but also during the charging process when electricity passes through the electrolyte solution it creates hydrogen gas which can cause an explosion if someone does not connect a jumper lead or charger correctly too the battery, batteries are know for exploding if they are not charged correctly because of the hydrogen gas they emit as they charge.

is what brought this to my intent was i went to check the fluids in my 1991 accord and noticed the sides / top of battery where Boeing out . the battery was old and did not wont to stay fully charged any more . so i took to Honda and they replaced with a life time battery of theirs and said this was a danger to my health . thats what prompted my idea to ask Eric and see what he had to say . so eric the car guy and 13aceofspades13 thank you for you’re time .

Really? A danger to your health… wow…

If you drop it from 20 feet, split it open, pop the top open and spill it on you, smoke overtop of it on a hot day, then yes it is dangerous… If you treat it with respect it is as harmless as a kitten….

Yes I have seen blown batteries, but it was ages ago with batteries that you needed to add distilled water…

Don’t drink the dang electrolyte in the battery… geeze… Do we need to put a caution label on everything?

Hell, when I was knee high to a pup we got our batteries dry and you had to fill them with electrolyte and charge them before installing. You tried to be careful but your clothes always seemed to have acid holes in them and I inhaled so many hydrogen fumes over the years I should be able to power a small light bulb. :sick:

ToyataKarl makes a very good point they arent dangerous if they are taken care of handled with care and used correctly… they are quite safe, keep them clean, handle with care, and they will last a wile and all that jazz…

All that said, just a video on basic battery care and maintenance I think would work nicely. I have a lot stacked up in the schedule at the moment but I’ll work it in at some point.

hey eric have you ever seen a battery explode or have any of you ? ToyotaKarl say’s he did and i would like to here what is his point of view on how this happened im still misidentify wondering why a battery would deform like that over time . it’s always bean tooken care of cleaned and what not .
