I am the owner of a 2008 Mazda Tribute. It has a 2.3 liter 4-cylinder engine. Not a hybrid. It’s the same thing as a 2008 Ford Escape. I need to access the PCV valve. Which is UNDERNEATH the intake manifold.

I have not found any videos or pictures that shows step by step on how to take off the intake manifold to replace the PCV valve and hose. Believe me I have looked for a good resource. I have only found support for the V-6 model. I have a leak in the PCV hose. Since I will be buying the PCV hose. I might as well buy a new PCV valve.

I’ve attached pictures of what part of my engine looks like. I had it cleaned right after taking these pictures. 😆

If someone knows a video on a similar setup on another vehicle with video. Please let me know. If not I hope Eric has access to this kind of setup and makes a new video on doing this.

        Google MAZDA 3 PCV
and you will get lots of hits. The 2.3 in your Tribute is also one of the engines in the 3. And Mazda 3 owners love to take their cars apart!

Are you sure? I went to that forum that you posted. Nothing. I went on Youtube to find videos on step by step instructions for intake manifold removal. Nothing again. It just shows engine problems, noises, people showing the results of Seafoam.

I’m still on the search though. I hope I find something soon. I really have to get it done soon.

In order for me to make a video on that I would need the same vehicle to come in needing the same service AND the time to shoot the video. If that happens, I’d be happy to make a video for you.

how about converting a diesel to run on veg oil, really easy ive done it, just need the right fuel pump, and fit a heat exchanger, changeover valve and fit an extra fuel tank. i ran a van for a couple of years on veg great fun.

                    stay cool

use gorilla tape if you can get to the hose. this will seal the leak until you can get the manifold off. as far as removal goes. look at any four cylinder intake removal. remove what components you have to, and remove the bolts/nuts that hold the intake on. replace the intake seals/gasket. tighten in recommended sequence

I appreciate your suggestions but it would be easier if you started new topics for them instead of piggybacking them on to other posts. It creates confusion when you do it this way. 🙂

As to your suggestions it really depends on what there is time for and what I can work in. I also need vehicles that I can use to do the stuff you suggest. In short, great ideas but don’t look for them anytime soon as I have a lot of things in production at the moment.
