Eric, my actual “suggestion” is down below.

This is a simple test run to see if it will actually work. I’ve never uploaded stuff directly to any forum on any site, so everyone please bear with me here in the highly likely event that it doesn’t work correctly. I think you might like this, Eric:

The 6th line of that paragraph, second sentence, and on through the end of the paragraph is how I learned about creating these codes online, FREE!!!

I decided to “Bing it” to find a website to create QRC’s

Then, I followed the simple steps to create what is to my knowledge: The World’s FIRST ever EricTheCarGuy QRC!!!

I would humbly suggest the implementation of these QR Codes in every part of the ETCG universe. They could probably be placed into every YT video, right next to ERICTHECARGUY.COM or on the opposite corner. They can be used within this website to link users to videos, or link videos to the site. We can add them to every section and/or thread of the forum as needed.

My stupid phone has decided it doesn’t want to get service right now, even though it normally gets full service here, SO with that problem, I can’t open the QRC on my phone to make sure the damn thing works…

Hello again everyone. So quick update on this: My Droid has been acting up since about the time I was first trying to post this thread yesterday. For some stupid reason, I’m getting poor reception and 3G signals even though I normally get fairly good service while sitting at my laptop

I had to recreate the QRC, but I did have it working last night.

Just checked it again after typing that last sentence. Mercifully, my phone decided to cooperate and get decent service.

As far as I can tell, that QRC in the O.P. works beautifully as intended. It takes the phone directly to the main page at ericthecarguy.com.

Anyhow, I’d be willing to help create a few more of these if you like the idea, Eric.

Can anybody else comment and verify that it works for them?

That’s pretty cool. I had an ad pop up before I got to the website, that may be because of my QR scanner though. This is more in the territory for the webmaster, Onyx. Given that we’re in the process of redoing the website this might work for the future. Thanks very much for taking the time to do this. It’s pretty cool. I’ll run it past the webmaster at our next meeting.

When I was looking up what QR codes are, I found the Wikipedia page and as soon as I read the part about people making their own, a light bulb came on in my head.
Not just any old bulb either. It was a 20 Watt bulb screwed into a 2,000 Watt socket! :banana:

I couldn’t finish reading the paragraph before A.D.D. kicked in and I was flooded with ideas for the potential ways that they can be implemented into the ETCG world!

Example:

Drive a 94 Miata?
Got some brake squeals?
Don’t know what you’re doing?
NO PROBLEM!

Locate an appropriate ETCG video or forum thread,
Scan the QRC and

YOU now have the relevant, correct information you need!
Just like the pro’s!

And best of all:

I had distractions while making it, but a focused person could have created it and posted a much shorter version of the thread in about 5-10 minutes, if that.

I started the process around 9am yesterday, and I think I finally finished around 3am lol. Never even finished learning about them, but the first one *I* ever scanned, was the one I made! haha That goes to show not only how easy they are, but how much we (the ETCG fans) need them.

Glad you liked it. You guys will have to let me know if there’s anything I can do to help if you decide to use them. Like I say, I would be more than eager to help out and give back to the community.

I was talking with the web developer last night and we’re going to try and come up with ways to use this information. If you’re willing, I may just put you to work on this. Right now I’m focused on the new website but once that’s complete I’ll be taking a closer look at QR codes and how we can use them at ETCG.

Absolutely! It would be an honor. I’m *not* an expert at all. Not by any means. But I will do as much as I possibly can to help out.
