i have a 1991 Mitsubishi mighty max, fuel injected 4 cyl.
just replaced the alternator because the charging diode in it went bad and i got a new (cheap) battery for it just last winter. it ran like a champ after i put the new alt in it, but a few days later its having the same problems, spits/sputters, sounds like its backfiring (i hear popping noises in the intake), cant seem to deliver any power, it HATES uphills, also when i turn the headlights off it idles pretty damn good.
i checked the distributor for any moisture and there was none, checked for vacuum leaks and could not find any, checked for leaks in the intake and there are none, visual inspection of MAF sensor and it looks in pretty good shape/clean, new plugs,
maybe my gas is freezing? its getting to about 0 degrees at night time here but it idles ok so that doesnt make sense to me.
i dont know, any information on the subject would very much help. thank you
btw first time poster, so let me know if there is anything i havent mentioned. stay dirty
