      Hey guysss!!
I was woundering is it normal to see higher temps in the summer with the AC on???
      Is so how much!!!

Like iv said My truck runs on the first mark…..It will idle at that temp all day-If I get into stop and go traffic on a hot day it may come up a mm but not much….When I kick the ac on it runs a bit warmer going down the road but not much—-If I get in stop and go traffic it comes up quite a bit!!!
Idleing Iv seen it come up over half way!!!—-This worrys me!!!! But Iv never seen it go past halfway- Maybe bc Iv not realy given it the change.

What do yall think about ac and higher temps!!!

Using the AC will create an additional load on the engine, thus why the idle will increase.

What year is your vehicle? If its OBD2 equipped, you could use a scan tool to see the actual coolant temperature.

I would be also checking for dirt and debris on and near the radiator that could be blocking air flow.

You also may want to ensure that you have no trapped air in the cooling system.

+1 means he 2nd’s the notion (a good suggestion that someone agree’s with).

Eric has a video on overheats. It’s a very very VERY good video, one of my favorites in fact. I keep on going back to that video with my 626 guys, every… single…

The reason the temp goes up is because you are putting another heat load in front of the radiator via the condensor. Think of the AC system as a system that transports heat, it takes the heat from the passanger compartment and dumps it in front of the radiator, hence the reason you will run a little hotter with the AC on as the air hitting the radiator is warmer as a result of the AC being on.

                Here’s a video

Don’t forget to change the ‘traffic light’ to green if the issue has been resolved.
