engine swap???

I have a 94 chevy lumina car with a 3.1 and a 91 buick regal with a 3.1 as well. i want to take the motor out of the lumina and put it in the regal everything looks the same except on the motor in the regal has a bracket that runs under the motor to the a/c. i guess my question is before i tear in to this i want to make sure that the engine will work without a lot of problems. Thank you in advance.

I’d have a close look at the engine and transmission wiring harnesses and connectors on both to make sure things are compatible between the two cars.

It can be frustrating, after the oily chunks have been swapped over, to find that something from car A doesn’t quite plug into car B.

thank you very much i am getting ready to start this project today i will be checking the wiring harness before i do anything.

Even if one has a bracket or mount in a different localtion I wouldn’t be too worried, as long as it isn’t a cast part of the block. The blocks should be identical once everything is stripped off. Don’t throw out ANYTHING until you’ve confirmed 100% function.

well i got the motor out of the regal and i see the the wiring on the transmission is different the lumina has 7 wires and the buick has 5. my question is… is this still possible to do? would i have to change the transmission as well as the motor? or is it just a no go? i didnt rip the lumina apart yet thats why im asking save me a lot of time and work lol.

according to this I would think it would work. I not 100% sure so i would like some input before I try anything.

i got it figured out im pretty sure lol

it work fine just use the wiring out of buick regal if any senors are different just use the senors off the engine that come out of the buick regal to put on the lumina engine
