What sized engine?
What kind of engine? Re-manufactured (long block or short block), Junkyard engine (50k, 100k, 150k miles), new engine
Same question for Transmission… Re-manufactured, Junkyard, or new?
While I have not replaced this transmission and engine before I will assume you are looking at 10-15 hours of labor…. At $75-$100 an hour for labor…
Include the following… Oil, Trans fluid, Coolant (add around $150-$300) for this.. (More if A/C has to be recovered and re-filled)…
So what do we know…
Labor will be anywhere from $750-$1500…
fluids and parts from $150-$300
A junkyard engine can be $700-1500
A junkyard Trans can be from $500-800
A reman engine may be $2000-$3000
A new engine may be $4000-$5000
So a very low end would be $2100 without tax (and this is very low) with an engine and trans that may have a 1-3 month guarantee for replacement from where they are sold (but does not cover labor to pull out and replace if they go bad in 1-3 months)…… High end price, just goes higher depending on the condition of the Engine and Trans…
Something to think about…
