Hey people I’m about to paint the engine in my truck. I was just wondering which is better duplicolor engine paint or vht?

I can’t remember if I’ve used VHT or not. But from my experience rattle can engine enamels look good, but are rather fragile. I always prep the surface properly and follow the instructions exactly but the paint will come off very easy in time. It seems like the ones with a higher heat tolerance adhere better than ones with lower limits. Maybe someone else here has used VHT, but I’m not 100% sure. Good luck.

Make sure you get a paint with a high heat tolerance like said above, and use something called “aircraft stripper” to get the old paint off, sand, and then paint.

I’m a huge fan of POR15 engine enamel. That stuff is DURABLE, and it looks great. It’s more expensive than your typical rattle can paints, but the kit comes with all of the prep materials you’ll need as well.
