      Hey,

I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla that has logged about 230,000 miles. It seems the car is supposed to take 5w30 oil. I was buying oil a while back and the salesperson sold me 20w50 oil, and I couldn’t return it (turns out she sold me oil that was already opened, I know I didn’t break the seal let alone twist open the cap). Can I use 20w50 oil in my car? I was hoping to at least mix a little bit of it with 5w30 each time to use up all the oil, that way I don’t end up wasting cash. Is this safe?

      Thank you.
      🙂

I would put in 1/2 to 1 quart of that in with the rest being 5w30 until the 20w50 used up. Should be fine.

I’d put up on craigslist for sale 🙂 Some Volkswagen enthusiast with an 20 year old engine will buy it off you.
