Engine not heating up

I drive a 2005 Honda Civic that I just recently changed the coolant and radiator hoses on. After changing the coolant and hoses, I bled the system in order to make sure it was free of air. Thought everything was ship shape. However, the other day while I was driving, I noticed for an extended period of time (20 minutes) my engine failed to heat up while I was driving. The needle barely got above cold and then all the sudden it heated up to normal operating temperature. it’s now been three days and it hasn’t done it since. My question is Is this a cause for concern for a thermostat thats about to go out or something else?

try replacing your thermostat if you car isn’t warming up. on my accord the needle on the temperature gauge never reaches the middle is normally right below the middle. just my two cents

You may have still had a pocket of air.
if it happens again.you may need a thermostat.
keep us posted if things change.

Change the thermostat. They’re relatively cheap anyway.

              Was this ever fixed?

I had the same issue when I flushed.

I ended up figuring out it was an air pocket. Squeezing the hoses to remove air didnt help (as suggested online)

I had to re-flush and problem was solved. At some point during the first flush I must of done something that let a little air in before/after I had flushed with water.

If you get a new thermostat make sure the temp range is the same as the one you had before. Ive gotten slightly different ones and I dont know if it changes anything (other than temp it opens) but it bothers the crap out of me if my temp gauge doesnt always do the same thing.

Thanks for the help. It hasn’t happened since so I just let it go. I’m watching it closely though. When I get some time I might consider trying to purge all the air out again. Just to be safe.
