Engine Mayonnaise

We all know what happens when the cooling system and the lubrication system meet through a crack in the head gasket, intake gasket, head or engine block. It’s a mess inside cooling and lubrication systems. I have seen many videos showing the mayonnaise inside then mentioning how to repair the engine.

But one thing is always overlooked. How do you get rid of that messy, gooey stuff from BOTH cooling and lubrication systems?

Issues like this are not always the result of coolant and oil mixing. Sometimes it’s just a break down of the coolant itself. Dexcool is famous for this. That said, a good system flush is usually the way to go. BTW, it rarely works the first time. It’s usually a process that goes on for a while before things get cleaned out. More info on cooling system issues here.

          Thanks for quick answer.
How about the lubrication system? Is it enough to drain the mayo like in a regular oil change? I imagine that some oil passages will still have goo inside.

One last thing. Any cheaper replacement of Dexcool? I don’t have it available where I live, so I am thinking if you know first hand of any readily available household substances that helped.

Prestone® Concentrate Antifreeze/Coolant is compatible with ANY antifreeze/ coolant – regardless of color – for use in ALL makes and models of cars and light duty trucks. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: This patented formula provides a high degree of performance durability and carefully balanced protection against temperature extremes and rust corrosion of all cooling system metals, including aluminum.

Sorry, but I didn’t ask for advertising.

Advertising? You asked for cheap alternative for Dexcool and I posted EXECT verbiage from Prestone that clearly tells you that it can be mixed with Dexcool – and I had it done safely. How this ended being an “advertizement” that’s between you and mods here. Sheeshh..

So if I shall say that Seafom will be safe to put into oil and clean the passages where oil goes – that’s advertisement too?

Eric recommended Dexcool as best solution to flush the mayonnaise from the cooling system. I don’t live in USA and I am not familiar with Dexcool, so I thought it is some detergent solution. In fact I see now that Dexcool is an engine coolant and Eric’s ‘advice’ has zero value. You don’t flush that mayonnaise with coolant, that’s stupid. Then when you posted an advertising text of another coolant I was angry because my original post asked for a solution to FLUSH that f-ing goo. Eric duped me and you didn’t bother to read my original question and correct Eric saying something like “hey, Eric, the guy wants to flush that milkshake, he’s not asking what coolant is best”

I’m of the opinion that if this goo exists inside your engine then the engine’s days are numbered. Engine oil diluted by coolant, or goo, is not a good lubricant and will not only wash away bearing surfaces but will also damage cam lobes, lash adjusters, cam followers, etc, etc.

In other words, you can remove every last molecule of that muck and still be left with a damaged engine. The coolant system is not so much an issue as the engine. If the engine oil is fairly clean you could breathe a little easier.

LOL, OP, I think you’re the first douche on the site that I’ve encountered. Congrats!
Like Eric said, you’ll have to flush that crap out over and over again. If you want the motor to last, remove it and thoroughly clean it.

Lol OP needs to chill out and start flushing, it might take a while.

Most any coolant will work in any vehicle, obviously some more “special cars require more special fluids, the most important thing is that it’s mixed properly and clean. I think you should really consider buying the cheapest stuff possible for at least 2 “flushings” then use a better product when the coolant removed is clean.

As for oil you can apply the same principle. I would suggest even using some used oil (of the roughly the same grade) initially since your will basically just be starting up the engine, beginning to fill the coolant, then emptying the oil and changing the filter after only a few minutes of running. Run clean oil and a new filter til you have the cooling system bled and the engine at temperature, then change again. Probably wouldn’t hurt to change it after 1000k or so.
