Hi Everyone,
(2002 V6 Accord)
Recently I ran into a couple issues with my car. My cruse control stopped working and a week later the engine light came on. You would thing the two are related, turns out they aren’t.
For the cruse control, it was just one of the 2 throttle cables came loose, so I attached it and adjusted the tension on both. Eric actually posted a video on the cable tension.I don’t have a OBD2 scanner tool, but I think ill pick one up, could someone suggest a good enough model suitable for Honda? Currently what I’m going on is shorting the terminals and counting the flashes.
9 long flashes. I think its emission related fuel leak or something like that, but I cant for any concrete answers on the internet yet. I had the gas tank replaced a couple months ago, maybe the code is related to that work?
Any advise would be great.

Head for a local parts store and ask them to pull codes for you. I’m clueless as to what the nine flashes would mean. When you’re shopping for your own code reader, most any little reader should work fine regardless of make and model. For the money you’ll be spending, there’s probably not going to be a particular code reader that’s better suited for Honda vs everything else. Actron code readers have been pretty good in my experience. You can find something basic enough to read and erase codes. If you’re willing to drop a couple hundred bucks, you can even find something in the line up that gives you ABS codes and shows you some live data pids. Look up cp9580 for the high end reader.
There are several scan tools out there that attach to your smart phone via blue tooth that you might consider. In fact I’ve done some reviews on them. Before someone chimes in, there’s also the Torque app that you can download. You’ll still need some form of interface for it to work however.
