      ericthecarguy, nation what are your thought on a replacement engine from savage yard.

        A few items to check before purchasing:
        Try to verify engine mileage.
        Does the salvage yard offer a replacement if the engine does not run.
        Hand crank the engine over to ensure it is not frozen.
        Check to see that no water has gotten inside.
        No visible damage to the block or heads.
        Oil in the crank case.

          thanks nightflyr, that would be the first thing I would do hand crank the engine. thanks for your help. it a 1997 Nissan pickup 22 year old so I don’t want to throw a lot of money on it. timing mess up my mechanic say he believe that valves hit pistons. have 288,000 mile on engine. but have a nice body and transmission seam to be ok. thanks again.
