People are getting ripped out there because many of the components that fall under the warranty emissions standards are covered when in fact people are getting charged for the parts and labor. For example, there has been lots of problems with the secondary air injection pump on many cars and consumers are getting charged big time when they shouldn’t be.

On the other side, we have a lot of Mitsubishis that develop in the center exhaust pipe (which includes the catalytic converter). It’s a $1100 pipe and we reel them in when repair shop X calls the parts dept for a price on the pipe. Because the car has a PZEV certification, the pipe has the catalyst on it, and we’re in NY, it’s covered under a 150,000 miles emissions warranty. Even though the catalyst itself isn’t failed, we are still able to cover it and save the customer a huge amount of money. Helping out like that is how we keep getting more loyal customers.

Thanks dude, I just found out about PZEV the other day.
These service advisers are dropping the ball because they’re not aware of it.

          thanks….
