Alright, some of us have been luckier than others. But most of us have had a really embarrassing story with our cars.
Mine happened 2 years ago.. I was driving in Washington towards the Canadian border when I pulled over to take a washroom break at Staples. When I got back, I couldn’t get the damn van to turn over, I tried jumping it but the starter just wouldn’t start. I finally got it started after about 15 minutes of swearing and turning the key. I was determined not to turn off the van until I got home. Whoops. When I arrived to the border, the border guard told me to shut it off because it was so loud he couldn’t hear me. I warned him that I just had trouble with it, but you always loose an argument with a border guard. After I shut it off, it took all buy about 10 seconds of conversation and he gave me the green light. Except I wasn’t getting very far because it wouldn’t start again. Did I mention I had a group of rowing buddies in the back? Well I did. And they all had to get out of the van and push the van over to the shoulder thing. After no success of jumping it for about an hour, I called BCAA. He came with a huge flat bed tow truck and hoisted my German beast of a van onto the flat bed. And just to make sure it wasn’t going to start, he tried to turn the key and voila! It roared to life without a hitch. The van was a 1985 volkswagen vanagon.
