hi, got a 1992 mazda 626 5 spd. had to replace alternator 3 times in 1 year . 2 times it was overcharging the battery boiling the acid. after the first time i put new battery in it because i thought that might be part of the problem. latest issue no start no crank. easy to push start and after turning it off starter works no problem. talked to a friend who had a 626 similar year who told me that his only issue he had with his car was that he had to replace alternator and starter at a regular basis. does anybody know if this is a common problem on this car? i also noticed that when the charging warning light comes on or flickers the rear light warning light flickers totally parallel with it. all rear lights work. latest problem is that the headlights might come one by them self with switch off and parked. i do not know if this is related. any one with similar experience with this car, or even better remedies for fixing them. other than the electrical issues i really like car. .
thanks guys and have a good one. p.s. can any one tell me why this post got flagged?

not sure what flag you are referring to? But for the alternator check the output with a meter.

If the voltage is that high your voltage regulator is shot. Not sure if its part of the alternator
or separate. This is why your battery is cooking.

i was aware that the voltage regulator which is a part of the alternator on this one was causing the overcharging the battery. my question is what causes the repeating alternator failures, and if this is a known problem with this car and if it could be related to my other electrical problems i got with this car. thanks and have a good one.

usually the aftermarket stuff can’t do what the OE did. You may want to
                get an OE alternator.
