      Hi guys,
I have a 1998 Peugeot 106 with 99166 miles on the clock. A few days ago I was reversing up a drive and the steering suddenly went very stiff. When I got home I decided to investigate. I started at the fuse, no problems there. I believe the relay for the pump also controls the vehicle lights and heater, as they are working fine so I have not really spent anytime looking into that. Also the is a multi-pin that connects the pump into the loom, I have separated the pin and I used a power probe to put a direct positive to the pump, the pump starts up fine. And finally yes there is fluid in the reservoir.

      Cheers guys
      Ryan

Check for voltage coming from the wire.

Check the connector to the pump. Try unplugging it and
          reseating it.

You’ll need to track down what’s suppose to power up the pump. Checking the ground is also a good idea. You did well checking the fuses and the relay but there might be some other control that’s suppose to activate them that’s causing the issue. A wiring diagram would be your best friend here. I don’t see many vehicles with that type of electric power steering. Sounds interesting.

            Keep us posted.
