Hi Eric, i was thinking is it possible to convert a 90s EFI car to the good ol carburetor specifically a 1996 honda 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine. I want to do the conversion for as cheap as possible with little labor in case the electronics on my car goes out. The car is still rock solid and running good at 229,4xx miles. I was thinking of modifying a ford pinto 4 cylinder intake manifold and a ford pinto carb.

Anything is possible with enough money and time. Honestly that system is almost bullet proof as an EFI. For me there would be very little motivation to change it.

My vote would be against doing it unless you’re just wanting a project to tinker with. You will have to change the fuel pump, re-route fuel lines, alter wiring, alter or make a throttle cable, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Once it’s done and running then you have to consider the vapor lock problem that will likely come up. Engine heat, ambient heat, and unleaded gas on carbed cars can lead to VL problems which then require modifications to eliminate or at least tame them down.
