      Hi there

If you ever go and replace a Cambelt on your engine here is a simply trick in which you will not have to adjust the timing.

Remove all the covers to get access to the Cambelt, then take a sharp Stanley knife and cut the old belt in half (when i say in half i mean down the center of the belt and NOT so you have 2 ends) when the belt has been cut slip off the outer half of the belt and leave the inner half in place, Slip on new belt so it touches the inner old belt, Once the new belt has been put on you can then cut the OLD Inner belt off and push the new belt into place.

A simply fix in which no timing will be required.

Thinking about this , there may be a lot of places / regions / spots on the belt that you may not be able to get to to split / cut it . But , with the transmission in neutral , you could use the crankshaft bolt & a ratchet to turn the engine over . This will bring those difficult areas of the belt , to a place where you can get to it to cut / split .

Only problem I see with this is you end up replacing the belt , only . My understanding is it is recommended that all the tensioner , idler pulleys and water pump ( if driven by the cam belt ) be replaced , also .

          God bless
          Wyr
