Drum Brake Question

I am changing out shoes and drums on a 2001 Honda Civic for inspection.

Tonight when I was putting the passenger side shoes on, I pushed on the wheel cylinder and popped out the other side (yea, I had a moment of stupid).

I stuck it back in and made sure the rubber was supple and would seal, it appears it is fine. I know I have to bleed the brakes cause well, duh, air in the system.

My question is should I get a rebuild kit and hone it out and put it back together or if it looks fine, sticking it back together is fine? I just hate drum brakes and just want to do this once and call it a day. 🙂 I know this is a stupid question.

I would do the same thing and put back together. I would bleed it and if no leaks leave it alone. Now if it was rusty in the bore I would replace it or at least hone it and rebuild.

Yep same. If the bore showed corrosion I would hone or re sleave but really its easier to just replace these days, or maybe its just me I’m over brake cylinder rebuilds. If you looked after the brake system and have had little to no water contamination in you fluid (fluid changes regularly ) you should be ok on cylinders for a good long while.
