This is the most haunted car ever, Christine move over. It’s my Jeep yet again. My 2004 Jeep grnd Cherokee limited with 97k miles, all kinds of strange things happen with this car since day one. Now it’s messing with my automatic door locks, I heard this clicking noise. Looking around the car I see the door lock on the doors clicking back and forth between locking and unlocking. First it was just the 2 passenger side doors, now it’s ever door but the drivers. Even the back lift door is clicking. The worst part is, I can’t leave it parked anywhere because it won’t stay locked. And it’s draining my battery, to where I needed a jump the other day. My mechanic took a look at it, he says maybe a module or a short. I can’t pay him by the hour to try and find out what’s causing it. So all I have is my Jeep manual to help me. I though or hoped it was a fuse, he said nope. So I’m game for any ideas as to where to start?

      Thanks from the haunted Jeep!

take the lock switches themselves out see if theres water or corrosion in there. if there is you know you have a leak and its shorting out the contacts.

I agree with Lord lhcalm. Remove the normal control devices and see if the problem persists. Leave you RKE Fob in the house, disconnect the master lock control switches and if it continues, remove the RKE fuse in the fuse panel. You can usually identify fuses by the legend on the panel cover.

If you have to go to the fuse panel, the RKE module is probably bad. You can either replace it or operate your car without the feature. I would fix it.

This video shows the RKE Module in the center overhead console check here first by unplugging the module if it is equiped. Video is for a 2000 JGC. Other info says it may be incorporated within the BCM. It dosen’t make sense to put an RF receiver within the BCM but I wouldn’t be surprised.

RealFixesRealFast is awesome. That said since the drivers door lock doesn’t seem to work you might try unplugging it to see if the other locks stop cycling. If they do I would suspect that door lock actuator. I’d replace it and recheck for the symptom.
