I go around buying peoples junk cars. Im not a mechanic so sometimes I don’t know if I should fix the cars or junk em (sell parts or scrap them). I just picked up a nice looking 2000 4Runner from a AAA car care center. The owner says that they told him the head gasket was blown. Theres a big crack in the radiator so they couldn’t do a pressure test. So how do they know the head is definitely blown? I called and talked to the tech who was working on the truck and he told me that the coils and plugs were changed once before and the same problem occurred soon after and caused the radiator to blow out. And because of this they diagnosed it with a blown head gasket. When I put my scanner on it I got random multiple misfires and a coolant circuit code. Do you think this is a correct diagnoses or was AAA trying to make some extra money off this guy?
