I’m not so much implying that I’m a better technician with my new tool box so much as I feel I’m more efficient. I also feel like the new box has made me ‘care’ a little more. I’m not sure if that’s the right way to explain it, but I’m more conscious of my tools and the work I’m doing.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Like you said, it makes you more efficient. No it doesn’t make you a better tech, but can help you be a better tech. Right now I’m working out of a US General (Harbor Freight) 56″ bottom and top. The box is suffed, things on top of each other. Sometimes I know the crammed box gets in my way and slows me down. I’ll get a better box sometime this year, but I am not doing what I did the first time and drown myself in debt buying a box off the truck. Either a Snap-On used for cash, or an Extreme from StrictlyToolBoxes. Next trip to FL I’m going to go to their store there and see them for myself before making a purchace.

Thanks for your input. I would argue that efficiency does equate to ‘better’, especially in the flat rate world. Time is money, the more efficient you can be, the more money you can make which can also equate to better.

I suppose it’s relative depending on how you look at it.

One last thing, pride in your work. If you’re taking better care of your tools I’d say you’re also taking more care with your work which could also be interpreted as ‘better’.

          Thanks again for your input.

I agree with the Efficiency. It can help speed things up when your not moving things to find a certain tool. Not saying a nice new epic series snap on is going to instantly turn you into a master tech. Just getting a newer box can give oneself more sense of pride. If I did it over again, I would have probably bought a different brand lower priced box and spent the extra money left over on more tools.

The box doesn’t make the tech, but can sure ensue more pride in ones self worth and the work they put out. Personally I feel I take more pride in my work, seeing I keep up on keeping my box, work area, and cart clean. Just personal experience.
