2003 neon, with bad compression in #4 piston of about 65presser the car runs good while driving but idles rough at stop lights at 625 rpms and dose not stall, the 2003 neon has a idle bolt 10mm that you can raise to keep the idle up , but when driving it runs pretty good ,o the tile is reconstructed ! ,,,would I have a better chance selling it by putting a new used motor ? the rest of the car looks good ,people like ,it ‘s got a rear spoiler alloy rims, and runs ok, I would like to get $1000.00 out of it with the piston problem as is ,and would I get any more out of it if I put a used motor in it being a reconstructed and having it run normal or right banana: that it for now thanks

Your car may be worth $1000 to an uneducated customer… but that’s about it. A 2003 Neon in “good” condition, with a clean title is worth about $1800-2500. To me, a 2003 Neon with a bum motor and a salvage title wouldn’t be worth the gas money to go look at it, even if it was 3 blocks away.

My best advice is to be completely honest about the car’s history and mechanical problems and if a buyer still wants to hand you money for it… that’s their problem.
