Living in the city has it’s perks. I was thrilled when someone broke the antenna off of my Celica. I had the joy of tapping the mount and installing a new one for the second time this year. It was even better when someone hit the right side mirror on my Magnum…
So today I decided to pull it off. I removed the door panel and upper door trim. It was pretty smooth sailing. The plug connector coming from the mirror had a clip broke and torn wires. The plug coming from the car has loose pins… yay. After all, it was such a joy rebuilding the plug connectors on the Celica for the coil packs.
In total three wires tore. Two of them tore behind the motor. Fortunately this entire side view mirror comes apart. After I rewire it if the motor works I can JB weld the broken housing.
If anyone wants pictures of this I can take some as I move through repairing it on this weekend. I’ll post the picture I took of it torn apart for now.

1 – Outter housing
2 – Mount, this is actually two pieces that are held together by screws. It broke where the screws hold it together. It holds the whole assembly to the car and the motor attaches to it.
3 – Weather seal
4 – The Motor that move the mirror.
5 – Motor mounting screws
6 – The mirror, surprisingly it didn’t break.This whole thing was held together by clips, maybe 6 or 7 in total.
Hopefull when I rewire this the motor works. If not I’ll see if I can track down just the motor.
Edit: I just realized I posted this in the wrong section,I’ll continue with how well this turns out in the proper section. I usually use Tappatalk and I don’t think that it specified what exactly this section was for.
