DIY self air drying air compressor

So you want to paint your car yourself. The problem is its very expensive. You need at least a powerful air compressor or two,air tools and some way of drying the compressed air.
First the air drier… Is it possible… perhaps to build one? what’s more can you make it fit in a small garage space?
