      hey all,
So my 91 Integra 3door hatchback has major water leaks from the majority of the seals not body damage. In question are the door seals, tailgate seal, and those little cowl grommets. I can get the grommets but the weatherstripping, along with most of the parts, appears to be discontinued and not stocked anywhere or reproduced by anyone. What are your suggestion for fixing the bad weatherstripping or sourcing a replacement? I have heard that the universal stuff really doesn’t work too great.

      Thanks

i saw that, but those are for 94-01 integras. do you or anyone know if they are the same as Gen 2 integras?

I don’t but you could call or email to ask any specifics you would have. 🙂

The bad thing about body parts is they are hard to come by for older cars. I would imagine any type of parts for a 91 would be a little harder to come by.
I am assuming the weather stripping is pretty much rotted out and torn beyond repair with entire chunks missing?

What you could try is looking in junk yards but you know those are probably not going to be in much better shape. Worth a look though.

To be honest, you may end up having to “engineer” something. You might get lucky and find the 94 – 01 weather stripping will fit or easily engineered. Also while at a junk yard, see if the honda stripping will work.

Here is what I would do – find a piece of stripping off your car that you can cut about an inch from, both from a door and the trunk lid. Someplace towards the bottom of the doors.

Take that to the junkyard and compare the size and shape to other hondas and acuras (any and every year and model) Once you find something exact or even really close, buy as many pieces as you want and then if it needs cut or altered, have sharp scissors and super glue or some kind of sealant to join pieces.

Yeah it is a rig job but like I said – sometimes things have to be engineered.

If worse comes to worst, head to the hardware store for some kind of weather stripping and get ready to rig it best you can.

Thanks, I will try the junk yards, but the yards in the MA area are just skeletons of cars that have already had every resellable piece pulled, marked up, and cataloged. and the cars only last about a mouth or two before the crusher. Ill try though.

I have done some comparing between gen 3 and my gen 2 tegs, and the hatch seems to use the same size and shape seal at least. Guess it cant hurt to try

I don’t know if it will be of any help but maybe Steele Rubber Products has something. They specialize in auto weatherstripping.
