So I bought this magnaflow 51732 online as a Direct Replacement.
I bolted the new part to the manifold to install as one piece. Everything was going great until I began bolting it to the engine/existing exhaust.
The new part was not manufactured to account for the small 2″ lip that seals the connection. Even though it claims to be a Direct Fit it isnt.
I was completely unaware began bolting manifold to CB. I thought it was mating together at the exhaust joint.
Since the joint was not mating properly it was causing issues where I was attempting to bolt the manifold to the cylinder head.
In the process I wound up stripping out two pin bolt hole threads. I still see threads towards the back of the holes.
Is there a way to use the existing threads to rethread the stripped area so I can avoid drilling the entire hole out?

If the threaded are isn’t completely wrecked, you can probably run the appropriate tap through preferably from the side that still has threads and “save” it. I wouldn’t count on being able to put a whole lotta torque on it if the bolts don’t pass all the way through. Even then you’re dancing with the devil a bit. And make sure the bolt threads are in good shape as well.
Worst case scenario, you’re in the same place you are now.
With specialty aftermarket parts, being “direct fit” only means that it’s supposed to fit.
I think for these we’re going to have to insert helicoils.
I was checking out You Tube videos and am sold on that.
I guess I’ll check out the EtCg video on stripped bolt holes.
